August 2021 – Folly on 80K Festival route

Busy times at Flounders’ Folly as the Covid-delayed Shropshire Way 80K Festival 2021 programme routed one of the main events through our grounds earlier in the month. Folly volunteer Ian Dodd kindly opened the doors of the tower so competitors could take in the views from the top. Several dozen found the time and energy to climb the steps and the event created a real buzz and atmosphere.

Congratulations to the organisers of the 80K Festival. The folly is delighted to be associated with it. The 2022 version of the 80K event is due to be staged next April, again centred on the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms. We’ll keep you posted!

As anyone who has been to the top of Flounders’ Folly knows, the extra height gained opens up a huge panorama that’s not visible from ground level. If you haven’t got to the top yet, we’re due open to visitors again this coming Bank Holiday Sunday, 11am-4pm. Come along and see for yourselves!
