Bumper numbers visit the folly

September 2022 – More than 80 people visited the Folly when we opened on Sunday (25 September) and enjoyed great views from the top of the tower. Many thanks ot all who gave donations to our maintenance fund – we couldn’t keep the place open without you!

Here is what one of our volunteer stewards said about the day:

I have been volunteering at Flounders’ Folly since its opening in 2005, and Sunday 25th September was the busiest that I have seen it. We had a continuous stream of visitors from the doors opening at 11.00 until 4.15pm, including many dogs of various shapes and sizes, ranging from an African Ridgeback to a border terrier, and a couple of Vizslas arriving with different owners. There was a mixture of local and visitors from further afield: from The Netherlands, London, Somerset and Kent, we even had some musicians, one taking his guitar to the top. Some local families, seeing the flag flying, took the opportunity to visit whilst the Folly was open. All were appreciative and grateful to the Flounders’ Folly Trust for refurbishing the Folly and thanked us for opening it. ‘Wow’ was the word of the day. We were blessed with the weather, although I prefer it sunnier, and there were clouds in the sky, it did not rain, and visibility was good.

The Folly is due to open again on 30th October, the last Sunday in the month.
